The US Agency for International Development Low Emissions Asian Development (USAID LEAD) program, in collaboration with the Asian Greenhouse Gas Management Center (AGMC), will host a four-day training during March 31 to April 3, 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand.
This training will be the first in a series of two regional events aimed at building capacity to establish sustainable national greenhouse gas inventory systems (NIS) in USAID LEAD program focus countries. This will be achieved through the introduction and completion of worksheets developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) under its National GHG Inventory Capacity Building program for developing countries. These worksheets will cover the following NIS components: institutional arrangements; methods and data documentation; key category analysis; and quality assurance/quality control; archiving; and national inventory improvement plans. Participants will complete the training with an action plan for implementing improvements in NIS in their respective countries.
USAID LEAD will organize a second training later this year to follow up on the implementation of these action plans, and give participants an opportunity to share their experiences and challenges in improving NIS.
