Asia LEDS partnership, along with ICF organized a webinar on “Analysing Job and Public Health Benefits from Clean Energy Policy Choices: Lessons for Bangladesh and beyond”. The webinar highlighted the findings of a detailed modelling analysis that looked at short-term and long-term job and health benefits associated with cost-effective clean energy policy choices in Bangladesh.

Asia Low Emission Development Strategies Partnership Webinar
Strengthening Your National Greenhouse Gas Inventory System: Essential Insights

From 2012 through 2016, USAID LEAD held a series of regional training workshops in South and Southeast
Asia on technical aspects and institutional underpinnings of national greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory
systems and emission factor development. During this same time period, UNDP continued to support
development by Thailand and other countries of the national GHG inventories that they include in the
National Communications and Biennial Update Reports that they regularly submit to the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). During the webinar, participants will hear the
organizers and trainers of these capacity building efforts discuss how countries have improved their
inventories, what areas they may wish to focus on for future inventories, and what drives inventory
improvement.

Identifying Economic Impacts of Low Emission Development in Asia

This webinar presents discussions on the economic impacts of Low Emission Development in Asia.In the session facilitated by Francisco Flores-Espino of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the I-JEDI Tool was introduced. The Jobs and Economic Development Tool could be used in estimating economic impacts of constructing and operating power generation plants. Meanwhile, James M. Vener, P.E., UNDP Climate Technical Specialist of the LECB Programme introduced the UNDP Sustainable Development Tool. This was designed for NAMA developers and policymakers to help them evaluate Sustainable Development performance indicators as well as the SD results of an activity.

LEAP is a widely-used software tool for energy policy analysis and climate change mitigation assessment developed at the Stockholm Environment Institute. This webinar includes a demonstration of the latest features in LEAP by the tool’s developer, and two cases in which LEAP has been applied in Asia: in Vietnam towards INDC development and in Indonesia for subnational level baseline GHG emission calculation.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Urban Development in Latin America and India

Latin America and Asia are currently leading the implementation of BRT systems in the world. This webinar discusses the results of two research projects looking at land development impacts of BRT systems in 7 cities in Latin America and 2 cities in India – Ahmedabad and Indore. The research methodology applied in both projects is presented to illustrate data collection techniques of built environment characteristics around BRT stops in cities where land use data is not usually available.

Mainstreaming Low Carbon Path in the Transport Sector in the National and Local Levels: Case of the Philippines
