The Clean Mobility CoP is a network of regional community of practitioners led by the Asia LEDS Partnership and LEDS Global Partnership’s Transport Working Group (TWG). The Asia LEDS Clean Mobility CoP is a fluid transnational and the regional community of practitioners (broadly formalised under the LEDS framework) to learn from each other and provide expertise and inputs to interested country governments on transport LEDS strategies for the region.
The CoP will offer advice, trainings, and inputs on priority need basis to interested national/regional governments for joint learnings.
The Transport CoP is intended to be an interactive network comprised of national and subnational governments, technical institutes nominated officials, transport sector experts, LEDS Global Partnership transport working group and Asia LEDS Partnership, addressing real-time policy, financing, technical challenges and solutions related to cleaner mobility; policy and regulatory framework for public transport.

Priority topic
The overarching priority topic on transport for the Asia region identified through country consultations is:
Moving towards clean mobility by strengthening the operational and energy efficiency of public transport policies and systems.
Low emission development strategies (LEDS) require an integrated approach in order to analyse the technical, socioeconomic, financial and political factors. The CoP will address the gaps in available expertise by facilitating deeper technical collaboration, enable peer to peer collaboration and exchanges for learnings on issues and solutions including design and implementation of effective policies and measures.
CoP members will benefit from participation in online and in-person exchange meetings, seminars and trainings with other peers working on efficient and cleaner mobility, including subtopics such as clean fuel alternatives, electric public transport fleets, improving public transport’s operational efficiencies, supporting infrastructure creation, policy and regulatory frameworks, analysis and tools for planning approaches, institutional arrangements (including multilevel governance) and private sector involvement. Based on areas of common interest, issue briefs and case studies will be developed and shared.
Engagement shall occur year round in an effort to provide a network for sustained support to practitioners working on clean transport solutions, including electric mobility.
The Transport Community of Practice includes over 42 participants from eight countries that include Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Republic of Korea and Vietnam.
Participants bring together diverse expertise and experience and include representatives from National Government, Ministries, Regulatory agencies for transportation, Technical and Research Institutes, Sub-national Governments, and Associations.
What is expected from participants?
Participants are expected to commit to sharing knowledge and experiences, to applying learning and resources, and to provide feedback on results achieved from engagement in the Community of Practice.
⦁ Participants will actively engage in the discussions and come prepared to share their country’s experience with clean mobility during peer learning activities
⦁ When appropriate, it is encouraged that participants recruit their peers to participate to learn and share information
⦁ The participants can provide feedbacks on results achieved from engagement in the CoP
⦁ It is expected that participants will share with the ALP community how they are applying the learning from the participation

Session 1: Enabling a transition to electric mobility in public transport fleets: Policies and Enabling Environment
This online session focused on buses as a mode of public transport. It helped the participants to understand the benefits of deploying electric buses, along with ideas to formulate productive policies with a special mention of incentives, charging equipment, operational hurdles and cost of buses.
Location: Gotowebinar Date: 22 June, 2018 Time: 08:00 – 10:00 AM Indian Standard Time (IST)

Virtual Session 2: Enabling a transition to electric mobility in Intermediate Public Transport fleets: Policies and Enabling Environment The session would highlight the policy incentives, regulations, challenges, outlook and way forward for intermediate public transport in Asian countries. Examples of IPT fleets include Auto-rickshaws (India), Jeepneys (Philippines) and Tuktuks (Thailand), and we hope to share insights from regional countries providing a framework by which these modes of transportation can be optimized and transitioned to cleaner energy sources.

Session: Roadmap for Sustainable Green Freight
The session would discuss the importance of green freight as a priority sector for the city and national governments. Emissions caused by non-passenger activities are often ignored, and thus this the webinar will sensitize the audience on the actions taken on green freight that can help governments achieve the NDC commitments, develop institutionally capacity and understand freight emission assessment tools.
