Special Report for Asian Regional Policy Dialogue: Pushing the Envelope on Renewable Energy

Details

Date: 7 Sep, 2016
Author: Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI)
Country: Asia Regional
Subject: Green Growth/Green Economy, Renewable Energy
Type: Reports and Studies

GGGI published and presented a special report for the Asian Regional Policy Dialogue (ARPD), which took place on 07 September 2016 during the Global Green Growth Week 2016. The report assessed why and how some countries within Asia have achieved success in attracting renewable energy investment, identified the critical barriers to furthering renewable energy deployment, and the policy measures and practical interventions that may help overcome these barriers. The report found that transitioning to renewable energy could yield multiple green growth benefits, such as reducing dependence on energy imports, strengthening energy security, mitigating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as committed to in the Paris Agreement, fuelling economic growth, reducing air pollution, creating new employment opportunities, reducing health care costs, and enhancing overall human welfare.
