The LEDS GP Sub-National Integration (SNI) Working Group along with Asia LEDS Partnership (ALP) has announced the call for “Expressions of Interest” on “Multi-level Governance and the NDCs: Accelerating subnational implementation & raising national ambitions” among its members on the 9th of August, 2017.
With the objective to provide technical assistance, support leadership and facilitate learning; the SNI Working Group of Low Emission Development Strategies Global Partnership (LEDS GP) intends to work with early mover countries. As part of this initiative, Asian countries are requested to convene “Multi-level Governance Climate Action Teams” for the sub-national integration of the country’s NDC and long-term LEDS.
Applications have been received from several Asian Countries including Philipinnes, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Laos PDR. The Countries have expressed their formal interest to reap the benefits of this opportunity. They have a strong desire to accelerate the planning and implementation of Low Emission Development strategies at the subnational level, such as scaling up the work of the provincial green growth action plans.After SNI Working Group and ALP’s careful and critical analysis of the country priorities, Sri Lanka and Laos PDR have been selected to receive support under this initiative.
