The Regional Dialogue on Technology Facilitation for Sustainable Development will be held in conjunction with the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) on 19-21 May 2014. The Asia-Pacific region is a major user and source of clean and environmentally sound technologies. In particular, the East and North East Asia subregion holds member States, which have made rapid strides in development and utilization of technologies for such areas as renewable energy. On the other hand, many member States of ESCAP are dealing with low capacity for development and utilization of technologies. In this context, ESCAP-ENEA Office is organizing a regional dialogue to map out ongoing initiatives and existing institutional frameworks for technology transfer in the region. The meeting also will explore how these initiatives can be coordinated and contributed to support the technology facilitation effort at global level. The outcome and recommendation of the meeting will be presented at APFSD as an input for discussions on the means of implementation.
