LIVE CHAT: What Are Green Bonds?

7 Dec, 2015   Online

Climate change affects all of us. But it is expected to hit developing countries the hardest. Its potential effects on temperatures, precipitation patterns, sea levels, and frequency of weather-related disasters pose risks for agriculture, food, and water supplies. At stake are recent gains in the fight against poverty, hunger and disease, and the lives and livelihoods of people in developing countries.

The good news is that there are many solutions to address climate change, but they need financing.  Green bonds is one of the financing options available to private firms and public entities to support climate and environmental investments.  Investors are attracted to green bonds because they allow a closer connection to positive social and environmental impacts. The World Bank Treasury created the “What Are Green Bonds?” guide to help people without a finance background better understand the nature of green bonds.

What are green bonds? How do they work? Who is issuing them and who buys them? What’s the benefit?

Ask questions and share your thoughts now on the potential of the green bond market. Join the live discussion December 7, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (ET) / 15:00 – 16:00 (GMT) to chat with our green bonds experts and learn more.

The URL below includes the Invitation to the live chat and also a PDF in 5 languages, toolkit, video on green bonds. Download the Blippar app, and learn more about green bonds.
